A Skincare Post: Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleanser

So as you all probably know by now, I have awful skin. Awful being the nice "non cursing" word to describe it. It's been awful for about 8 years and doesn't show any sign of clearing up, any time soon. Although my Mammy assures me I'l have great skin when I'm older because she does (I know you're reading this) but to be quite honest, I'd rather have the good skin now. My skin is oily, "blemish" prone, extremely sensitive, prone to redness and on top of all that, there are pigmentation and scarring issues... I can sense all your jealousy from here. Obviously the one product won't solve all my problems but one by one I'm trying to break them down so I can feel a tiny bit more confident without my usual slap of make-up.

As you can imagine, I trial a huge amount of different products, from different brands in the search for my holy grail items. I also spend a huge amount of time and money doing so, but I don't mind as it means I'm one step closer to finding the one. I do have a few products that I will always repurchase but they all have different purposes. For example, my Clinique cleansing balm. I use it to remove all my make-up but I always like to double cleanse after which is where the Eucerin DermoPurifyer* came out to play.

Escentual kindly sent me the cleanser, along with about 12 generously sized samples. It did feel like Christmas had come again. The fact that the cleanser was aimed at skin identical to mine was an added bonus so I genuinely couldn't wait to try it out. I had of course heard of the brand before but had never seen it in the shops anywhere. However, recently Escentual have added it to their huge list of brands so I was curious even before the sample arrived. Have I found the one cleanser? I'm not sure. It didn't knock my socks off, but I would repurchase which is always a good sign.

Firstly, the amount of product you get for your money is ridiculously good. A container with 200ml for £9 is excellent for those like me who can't always afford to splash out on the latest offering that costs more than a weekly food shop. The packaging is also quite sturdy which for me was essential, does anyone else always end up dropping every single container in the shower and having its contents go everywhere?

As for the product itself, it's a clear fragrance free gel that goes a hell of a long way so you really only need to use a pea sized amount. Eucerin suggest it can be used to cleanse away make-up, which I haven't tried because as I mentioned above, it's my "second" cleanser. It does definitely remove any left over trace of dirt and whatever other stuff would be lurking on my face, I'm not sure does it entirely eliminate the access sebum though. It helped dry up any of the blemishes I had which then helped towards them healing quicker, and mattified the skin slightly. I also got along really well with one of the samples I was given, which was the "sister" product - the DermoPurifyer Hydrating Care. After using the cleanser, I go straight in with my regular mosituriser, and then the Hydrating Care. It doesn't fully "hydrate" but it does mattify the skin and give me a really good base for my make-up which was a pleasant surprise.

I definitely just confused myself with those last few sentences.

All in all, it's a great product for those with oily and acne prone skin. I'l use up my container and probably buy another as I enjoy using it on my face and shoulders. My skin felt very clean afterwards and it didn't aggravate my seriously sensitive skin. The only gripe I have would be it can be very drying but to be fair, that is what it aimed to do. It contains salicylic acid which dries the hell out skin because it is a spot treatment, that does its job well. Just exfoliate every so often, moisturise well and you'll be graaaand.

Escentual are currently having one of their amazing 1/3 off French pharmacy brands sales. So the usual price of the cleanser of £9 is down to £6. As are the toner and hydrating care which I definitely want to pick up as a full size.
